Future projects
The projects planned for the future of the Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC) as stated in the Infrastructure Master Plan (PDI) 2001-2010 designed by the Autoridad del Transporte Metropolitano (ATM) include:
The continuation of the Terrassa underground line, with three new stations (currently being carried out), and that of Sabadell, also with three more stations.
Also, the ATM has launched plans to continue the FGC Metro del Baix Llobregat line, from the Barcelona-Pl. Espanya station to the plaza de Francesc Macią's, to connect the current Grącia station with the Metro del Vallčs. Equally, the new metro L9 (Badalona-El Prat de Llobregat) and L12 (Castelldefels-Sant Boi-Barcelona) lines will be inter-communicable with the FGC stations.
The autonomous government of Catalonia's suggests that the neighbouring Renfe network should be transferred and become managed by the FGC, alone or jointly with Renfe. It has also demanded the transfer of the management of the Puigcerdą to La Tor de Querol Renfe line to the FGC.
