Montserrat Operation
Montserrat Rack Train
Throughout the 15 minute ride on the Montserrat rack train-attractive, comfortable, fast, and safe transport that is respectful to the environment-you can enjoy the spectacular sight of the mountain peaks and the unique landscape.
The railway, which follows the former rack route, extends just over five kilometres to connect the Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC) Monistrol de Montserrat station with the monastery.
With five electric, panoramic cars, the rack train offers state-of-the-art engineering that includes air conditioning and are adapted to those with limited mobility.
Sant Joan Funicular
At an altitude of just over 1000 meters, the upper Sant Joan funicular station offers you an impressive view of the surrounding mountains and the monastery.
Once there, you can visit the Nature Centre, which explains the characteristic ecosystem found in the Monserrat area. From here, you can go hiking and trekking.
Santa Cova Funicular
At the lower Santa Cova funicular station, close to where tradition states that the Virgin of Montserrat appeared, there is an exhibit about funiculars, their history and evolution and about the legendary origin of Santa Cova.
